Abstract

mmm.-Three novel compounds in which a sesquiterpene nucleus is coupled with an o-hydroxybenzyl unit and where cyclization lras o c d through the phenolic hydroxyl to give a benzopyran have been isolated from the stem bark of Uvwirr angohis. These sesquiterpenes, which have been given the trivial names uvarisesquitecpenes A X , are based on germacme (uvarisesquiterpene A), selinane (uvarisesquiterpene B), and axane (uvarisesquiterpene C) skeletons.
