Gideon Davies received his Ph D from the University of Bristol working with Len Hall and the late Dr Herman Watson. Following this he spent time at the EMBL Hamburg outstation on the applications of synchrotron radiation to protein crystallography. He then moved to the University of York (UK) with periods abroad in Grenoble, Uppsala and Vancouver.
