In aggressively growing tumors, hypoxia induces HIF-1α expression promoting angiogenesis. Previously, we have shown that overexpression of oncogenic microRNAs (miRNAs, miRs) miR526b/miR655 in poorly metastatic breast cancer cell lines promotes aggressive cancer phenotypes in vitro and in vivo. Additionally, miR526b/miR655 expression is significantly higher in human breast tumors, and high miR526b/miR655 expression is associated with poor prognosis. However, the roles of miR526b/miR655 in…
Pri-miR526b and Pri-miR655 Are Potential Blood Biomarkers for Breast Cancer
TLDR
It is reported for the first time that miRNA precursor RNAs (pri-miRNAs) are robust and sensitive biomarkers for BC, detectable in both human blood plasma and biopsy tissues, and pri-miRNA expression in independent tumor bank tissues is validated, showing significant upregulation of both pri- miRNAs in BC.
MicroRNAs: Important Players in Breast Cancer Angiogenesis and Therapeutic Targets
TLDR
The recent updates on miRNA signatures and their cellular targets in the development of breast tumor angiogenetic are summarized and the strategies associated with miRNA-based therapeutic targets as anti-angiogenic response are discussed.
Angioregulatory microRNAs in breast cancer: Molecular mechanistic basis and implications for therapeutic strategies
TLDR
The current state-of-the-art in BC angiogenesis-mediated by angioregulatory miRNAs is described, and an overview of mi RNAs dysregulation association with the anti-angiogenic response in addition to potential clinical application of miRN as-based therapeutics are described.
Hypoxia-Induced Non-Coding RNAs Controlling Cell Viability in Cancer
TLDR
Recent findings on the different roles of hypoxia-induced ncRNAs in cancer focusing on the data that revealed their involvement in tumour growth are reviewed.
Interplay between cyclooxygenase-2 and microRNAs in cancer
TLDR
Understanding the regulatory role of miRNAs in COX-2 post-transcription can provide novel insight for suppressing COx-2 expression via gene silencing mechanisms, which offer new perspectives and future directions for the development of novel COX -2 selective inhibitors based onmiRNAs.
EP4 as a Therapeutic Target to Impede Breast Cancer-associated Angiogenesis and Lymphangiogenesis
TLDR
It is shown that COX-2 is a major promoter of both events, primarily resulting from the activation of Prostaglandin E receptor EP4 on tumor cells, tumor-infiltrating immune cells, and endothelial cells; and induction of oncogenic microRNAs.
Prostaglandin E2 Receptor 4 (EP4) as a Therapeutic Target to Impede Breast Cancer-Associated Angiogenesis and Lymphangiogenesis
TLDR
COX-2 is a major promoter of both events, primarily resulting from the activation of prostaglandin E receptor EP4 on tumor cells, tumor-infiltrating immune cells, and endothelial cells; and induction of oncogenic microRNAs.
15-Deoxy-Δ12,14-prostaglandin J2 Induces Epithelial-to-mesenchymal Transition in Human Breast Cancer Cells and Promotes Fibroblast Activation
TLDR
It is suggested that 15d-PGJ2 induces EMT through up-regulation of Snail expression and subsequent production of CXCL8 as a putative activator of fibroblasts, which may contribute to tumor-stroma interaction in inflammatory breast cancer microenvironment.
Conserved Transcription Factors Control Chromatin Accessibility and Gene Expression to Maintain Cell Fate Stability and Restrict Reprogramming of Differentiated Cells
TLDR
This study uncovers a novel evolutionarily conserved mechanism mediating cell fate stability in differentiated cells and identifies AJSZ as promising therapeutic targets for regenerative purposes in adult organs.

MicroRNA-18a inhibits hypoxia-inducible factor 1α activity and lung metastasis in basal breast cancers
TLDR
A novel role for miR-18a in targeting HIF1A and repressing metastasis of basal-like breast tumors is revealed and analysis of previously published data revealed that higher expression of HIF 1A and a panel of hypoxic genes is associated with shorter DMFS interval in patients with basal- like breast tumors, and that, within this subtype, miR -18a expression is inversely correlated with hypoxic gene expression.
COX-2 induces oncogenic micro RNA miR655 in human breast cancer
TLDR
It is shown that Cyclooxygenase-2 over-expression induces an oncogenic microRNA miR655 in human breast cancer cells by activation of EP4 and this expression could serve as a prognostic breast cancer biomarker.
miR526b and miR655 Induce Oxidative Stress in Breast Cancer
TLDR
The dynamic functions of miR526b/miR655 in oxidative stress induction in breast cancer are established, and treatment with miRNA-conditioned media upregulates TXNRD1 in both MCF7 and HUVECs, indicating that oxidative stress also induces miRNA overexpression.
COX-2 Elevates Oncogenic miR-526b in Breast Cancer by EP4 Activation
TLDR
Novel findings are presented that miRNA 526b is a COX-2 upregulated, oncogenic miRNA promoting SLCs, the expression of which follows EP4 receptor-mediated signaling, and is a promising biomarker for monitoring and personalizing breast cancer therapy.
Mir526b and Mir655 Promote Tumour Associated Angiogenesis and Lymphangiogenesis in Breast Cancer
TLDR
The roles of cyclo-oxygenase (COX)-2 induced miR526b and miR655 in tumour-associated angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis are examined and EP4 is considered as a potential therapeutic target to abrogate miRNA-induced angiogenic and lymphangaogenesis in breast cancer.
MicroRNA-22 Regulates Hypoxia Signaling in Colon Cancer Cells
TLDR
The data suggest that miR-22 might have an anti-angiogenic effect in colon cancer, as well as controlling hypoxia inducible factor 1α expression in the HCT116 colon cancer cell line.
miR‐942 promotes tumor migration, invasion, and angiogenesis by regulating EMT via BARX2 in non‐small‐cell lung cancer
TLDR
It is revealed that miR‐942 induces EMT‐related metastasis by directly targeting BARX2, which may provide a potential therapeutic strategy for NSCLC.
CoCl2 increases the expression of hypoxic markers HIF-1α, VEGF and CXCR4 in breast cancer MCF-7 cells.
TLDR
The results of the present study identified that CoCl2 is able to control MCF-7 cell proliferation and apoptosis, also increasing the expression of HIF-1α, CXCR4 and VEGF.
CoCl2 simulated hypoxia induce cell proliferation and alter the expression pattern of hypoxia associated genes involved in angiogenesis and apoptosis
TLDR
Investigation of the expression pattern of the hypoxia associated genes and their association during breast cancer progression under hypoxic microenvironment revealed that cell proliferation in CoCl2 treated breast cancer cells were concentration dependent and varies with different cell types, further increase inCoCl2 concentration leads to apoptotic cell death.
