Abstract An antitumor d -manno- d -glucan from Microellobosporia grisea , an actinomycete, has a unique, tetrasaccharide repeating-unit structure, in that a single α- d -mannosyl group is located at both O-3 and O-6 of every other β- d -(1→4)-glucosyl residue. The mannoglucan was chemically modified, and tested for antitumor activities against Ehrlich carcinoma and MM46 adenocarcinoma solid tumors in mice.
