  • Abstract Chemical properties and clay mineralogy of 6 samples from the Republic of The Gambia have been studied. The samples were collected from sites with different drainage conditions. Chemical analyses show low contents of exchangeable metal cations and organic matter. The pH measured in water suspensions is also relatively low.
