The E- and Z-isomers of ethanimine (CH3CHNH) were recently detected toward the star-forming region Sagittarius (Sgr) B2(N) using the Green Bank Telescope PRIMOS cm-wave spectral data, and imaged by the Australia Telescope Compact Array. Ethanimine is not reported in the hot cores of Sgr B2, but only in gas that absorbs at +64 and +82 km s−1 in the foreground of continuum emission generated by H ii regions. The ethanimine isomers can serve as precursors of the amino acid alanine and may play… Expand
Chemical models of interstellar cyanomethanimine isomers
The E-isomer of cyanomethanimine (HNCHCN) was first identified in Sagittarius B2(N) (Sgr B2(N)) by a comparison of the publicly available Green Bank Telescope (GBT) PRIMOS survey with laboratoryExpand
A quantum chemical study on the formation of ethanimine (CH3CHNH) in the interstellar ice
Ethanimine (CH3CHNH) is an important prebiotic molecule since it is a precursor of amino acid α$\alpha $-alanine in Strecker synthesis. Two isomers (E and Z) of ethanimine were detected in theExpand
Prebiotic molecules formation through the gas-phase reaction between HNO and CH2CHOH2+
Context. Knowing how the molecules that are present in the ISM can evolve to more complex ones is an interesting topic in interstellar chemistry. The study of possible reactions between detectedExpand
A Search for Interstellar Monohydric Thiols
It has been pointed out by various astronomers that very interesting relationship exists between interstellar alcohols and the corresponding thiols (sulfur analogue of alcohols) as far as theExpand
Binding Energy and Isomerism: Two Important Aspects of Astrochemistry
Hydrogen is widespread in the universe and H2, the precursor to more complex molecules, is mainly formed on the interstellar dust grain surface and binding energy dictates the surface chemistry. WeExpand
A theoretical investigation of the reaction between the amidogen, NH, and the ethyl, C2H5, radicals: a possible gas-phase formation route of interstellar and planetary ethanimine
The reaction between the amidogen, NH, radical and the ethyl, C2H5, radical has been investigated by performing electronic structure calculations of the underlying doublet potential energy surface.Expand
The challenging playground of astrochemistry: an integrated rotational spectroscopy - quantum chemistry strategy.
TLDR
An integrated rotational spectroscopy - quantum chemistry approach for supporting radioastronomical observations and a computational strategy for contributing to the elucidation of chemical reactivity in the interstellar space are presented. Expand
Amino acetaldehyde conformers: structure and spectroscopic properties
We present a computational study of the different conformers of amino acetaldehyde. This molecule is a precursor of glycine and also an isomer of the detected molecules acetaldehyde andExpand
Formation of Nitrogen-Bearing Organic Molecules in the Reaction NH + C2H5: A Theoretical Investigation and Main Implications for Prebiotic Chemistry in Space
TLDR
The reaction between the imidogen radical (NH) and ethyl radical (C2H5) is investigated from a theoretical point of view to establish whether it can form product species with a novel C-N bond, and according to the present electronic structure calculations of the stationary points of the C2H6N potential energy surface, the NH + C1H5 reaction is a viable route of formation of methanimine and ethanimine. Chemical Modeling for Predicting the Abundances of Certain Aldimines and Amines in Hot Cores
We consider six isomeric groups (CH3N, CH5N, C2H5N, C2H7N, C3H7N and C3H9N) to review the presence of amines and aldimines within the interstellar medium (ISM). Each of these groups contains at leastExpand
