The chemical absorption rate of CO2 was measured into an aqueous solution of nanometer-sized colloidal silica (0∼31 wt%) and monoethanolamine (MEA; 0∼2 kmol/m) in a flat-stirred vessel equipped with impellers of various sizes and operated at various speeds at 25 C and 0.101 MPa. The measured rate of CO2 absorption was compared with the values estimated from a model based on film theory accompanied by chemical reaction.
