We find new spherically symmetric charged boson star solutions of a complex scalar field coupled non-minimally to gravity by a "John-type" term of Horndeski theory, that is a coupling between the kinetic scalar term and Einstein tensor. We study the parameter space of the solutions and find two distinct families according to their position in parameter space. More widespread is the family of solutions (which we call branch 1) existing for a finite interval of the central value of the scalar…

Topological black hole in the theory with nonminimal derivative coupling with power-law Maxwell field and its thermodynamics

We obtain topological black hole solutions in scalar-tensor gravity with nonminimal derivative coupling between scalar and tensor components of gravity and power-law Maxwell field minimally coupled

Static topological black hole with a nonminimal derivative coupling and a nonlinear electromagnetic field of Born-Infeld type

We consider scalar-tensor gravity with nonminimal derivative coupling and Born-Infeld electromagnetic field which is minimally coupled to gravity. Since cosmological constant is taken into account it

Scalarized compact objects in a vector-tensor Horndeski gravity

We have discovered a new type of scalarized charged black holes in a surprisingly simple system: an Einstein-Maxwell-Klein-Gordon field theory where the three fields couple non-minimally through a

Scalar fields have played an important role in the development of the fundamental theories of physics as well as in other branches of physics such as gravitation and cosmology. For a long time, these

Charged Galileon black holes

We consider an Abelian gauge field coupled to a particular truncation of Horndeski theory. The Galileon field has translation symmetry and couples non minimally both to the metric and the gauge

General relativistic boson stars

There is accumulating evidence that (fundamental) scalar fields may exist in nature. The gravitational collapse of such a boson cloud would lead to a boson star (BS) as a new type of a compact

Black hole hair in generalized scalar-tensor gravity: An explicit example

In a recent paper we showed that in shift-symmetric Horndeski theory the scalar field is forced to obtain a nontrivial configuration in black hole spacetimes, unless a linear coupling with the

Asymptotically locally AdS and flat black holes in the presence of an electric field in the Horndeski scenario

Asymptotically locally AdS and asymptotically locally flat black hole solutions are found for a particular case of the Horndeski action. The action contains the Einstein-Hilbert term in the gravity

Solutions in the scalar-tensor theory with nonminimal derivative coupling

We present black hole type solutions in the scalar-tensor theory with nonminimal derivative coupling to the Einstein tensor. The effects of the nonminimal derivative coupling appear in the large

Black holes with nonminimal derivative coupling

We study the gravitational field equations in the presence of a coupling between the derivative of a massless scalar field and the Einstein tensor. This configuration is motivated by Galileon gravity

Black holes and stars in Horndeski theory

We review black hole and star solutions for Horndeski theory. For non-shift symmetric theories, black holes involve a Kaluza–Klein reduction of higher dimensional Lovelock solutions. On the other

Black hole hair in generalized scalar-tensor gravity.

Horndeski's theory is considered, and it is shown that in such theories, the scalar field is forced to have a nontrivial configuration in black hole spacetimes, unless one carefully tunes away a linear coupling with the Gauss-Bonnet invariant.

The screening Horndeski cosmologies

We present a systematic analysis of homogeneous and isotropic cosmologies in a particular Horndeski model with Galileon shift symmetry, containing also a Λ-term and a matter. The model, sometimes
