Characterization of the hydrophilic-lipophilic properties of emulsifying systems containing vitamin K1

Abstract

Aqueous emulsions of fat-soluble vitamins appear to be promising medicinal formulations. In peroral administration emulsions facilitate intake of the preparation, bringing about faster and more complete absorption of the active material in the intestine as is especially important in pediatrics. Emulsification also allows injection of fat-soluble compounds, which significantly increases their effectiveness and rapidity of action. Thus, development of emulsified forms of such important medicinal agents as fat-soluble vitamins presents an urgent problem.
