We report the cloning and analysis of a clathrin heavy-chain cDNA from the eukaryotic microorganism, Dictyostelium discoideum. A single gene, designated chcA, for the clathrin heavy chain encoded a protein of 1,694 amino acids with a molecular mass of 193,618 daltons.
