Characterization of the Portuguese-Grown Cistus ladanifer Essential Oil
@article{Gomes2005CharacterizationOT, title={Characterization of the Portuguese-Grown Cistus ladanifer Essential Oil}, author={Paula B. Gomes and Vera L{\'u}cia Gomes Mata and Al{\'i}rio. E. Rodrigues}, journal={Journal of Essential Oil Research}, year={2005}, volume={17}, pages={160 - 165} }
Abstract The chemical composition of the cistus oil from Portuguese-grown rockrose (Cistus ladanifer) was determined using GC and GC/MS. A comparison was also made in terms of the geographical source and use of either dry or fresh plant material. The cistus oil herein obtained was richer in amber-like compounds and had a low content of monoterpenes when compared to the usual values found in the literature. Moreover, it presented a relatively high content of ambrox (amber odor), which usually is…

Influence of the Storage of Cistus ladanifer L. Bales from Mechanised Harvesting on the Essential Oil Yield and Qualitative Composition
- MedicineMolecules
- 2021
The storage of mechanically harvested Cistus ladanifer leads to differences in the quantitative composition of the essential oils, decreasing the total monoterpene compounds content and increasing that of oxygenated sesquiterpenes, especially when the biomass is stored for 100–120 days, without affecting its qualitative composition.
