Abstract The chemical composition of the cistus oil from Portuguese-grown rockrose (Cistus ladanifer) was determined using GC and GC/MS. A comparison was also made in terms of the geographical source and use of either dry or fresh plant material. The cistus oil herein obtained was richer in amber-like compounds and had a low content of monoterpenes when compared to the usual values found in the literature. Moreover, it presented a relatively high content of ambrox (amber odor), which usually is…

Chemical Analysis of the Essential Oils of Three Cistus Species Growing in North-West of Algeria

The study reports for the first time the chemical composition and the antibacterial activity of the essential oil hydrodistilled from three Cistaceae growing in Algeria: Cistus ladaniferus L., C.

Chemical composition and herbicidal activity of the essential oil from a Cistus ladanifer L. population from Spain

To study its possible use as a natural herbicide, the essential oil of Cistus ladanifer was tested in vitro against Amaranthus hybridus, Portulaca oleracea, Chenopodium album, Conyza canadensis and Parietaria judaica, completely inhibiting A. hybridus germination, and nearly blocking C. Judaica germination at all concentrations assayed.

Chemical and Bioactive Characterization of the Essential Oils Obtained from Three Mediterranean Plants

Characterizing the EOs obtained by steam distillation from the three species collected in different locations from Spain found some EOs revealed toxicity against non-tumoral cells but generally presented a GI50 value higher than that of the tumor cell lines.

Cistus ladanifer as a source of chemicals: structural and chemical characterization

Different biomass fractions of Cistus ladanifer and solid residues from essential oil distilleries were structurally and chemically evaluated. The C. ladanifer biomass fractions showed chemical

Influence of the Storage of Cistus ladanifer L. Bales from Mechanised Harvesting on the Essential Oil Yield and Qualitative Composition

The storage of mechanically harvested Cistus ladanifer leads to differences in the quantitative composition of the essential oils, decreasing the total monoterpene compounds content and increasing that of oxygenated sesquiterpenes, especially when the biomass is stored for 100–120 days, without affecting its qualitative composition.

Chemical composition and antioxidant activity of essential oil, various organic extracts of Cistus ladanifer and Cistus libanotis growing in Eastern Morocco

In the present work, we studied the chemical composition of the essential oil of Cistus ladanifer and Cistus libanotis growing in Eastern Morocco. The essential oils were obtained by

Composition of the Essential Oil of Cistus ladaniferus L. Cultivated in Corsica (France)

The essential oil of Cistus ladaniferus L., obtained from plants of Spanish origin grown in Corsica, was investigated by 13C-NMR spectroscopy (identification of components) and GC (quantification).

Constituents of commercial Labdanum oil

Commercial Labdanum oil contains more than 300 constituents. 186 compounds (154 from the neutral part, 32 from the acidic part), representing about 95% of the oil, were identified mainly by their NMR

Isolation of Rock Rose Essential Oil Using Supercritical CO2 Extraction

Supercritical carbon dioxide has been used as a solvent for the extraction of rock rose leaf (Cistus ladanifer L.). The aim of this work was to identify the best processing conditions to obtain rock

Volatile components of Cistus ladanifer leaves

Volatile components of Cistus ladanifer leaves from the north of Portugal were analysed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS), gas chromatography–FID and preparative gas chromatography
