Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) has a central role in the adaptive immune system by presenting foreign peptide to the T-cell receptor. In order to study the molecular function and genomic characteristic of class II genes in teleost, the full lengths of MHC class IIA and IIB cDNA and genomic sequence were cloned from miiuy croaker (Miichthys miiuy). As in other teleost, four exons and three introns were identified in miiuy croaker class IIA gene; but the difference is that six exons and… Expand
Molecular cloning and expression analysis of major histocompatibility complex class I, IIA and IIB genes of blunt snout bream (Megalobrama amblycephala).
TLDR
The results demonstrated the MHC genes played an important role in response to bacterial infection in M. amblycephala; however, MHC class I and II genes showed different functional activity, which need be further investigated in teleost. Expand
Major histocompatibility complex class IIA and IIB genes of loach (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus): Molecular cloning and expression analysis in response to bacterial and parasitic challenge
TLDR
The results indicated that Ma-MHC II genes might play an essential role in the skin and gill mucosal immune response to help loaches defense the pathogenic bacteria and parasite. Expand
Duplicated major histocompatibility complex class II genes in the tongue sole (Cynoglossus semilaevis)
TLDR
The class II gene duplication with divergent exon and intron sequences, but similar expression patterns in tongue sole provides new insights into MHC evolution. Expand
Molecular characterization, polymorphism and expression analysis of swamp eel major histocompatibility complex class II B gene, after infection by Aeromonas hydrophilia.
TLDR
High MHC-DAB expression in stomach, spleen, blood cell and liver, moderate expression in brain, skin and kidney, and low or negligible expression in heart, intestine and muscle after challenged with pathogenic bacteria, Aeromonas hydrophilia are reported. Expand
Major histocompatibility complex class IIA and IIB genes of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus: genomic structure, molecular polymorphism and expression patterns.
TLDR
MHC IIA and IIB were probably two candidate immune molecules involved in the resistance against streptococcosis, because their expression was significantly up-regulated in gill, kidney, intestine and spleen after the intraperitoneal injection of Streptococcus agalactiae. Expand
Characterization and expression of MHC class II alpha and II beta genes in mangrove red snapper (Lutjanus argentimaculatus).
TLDR
The phylogenetic analysis of the deduced peptides revealed that both Lunar-DAA and Lunar-DAB were located in the teleost subclass of mangrove red snapper, and the highest expression of MHC class II β in thymus confirmed the conclusion thatThymus is one of the primary lymphoid organs in fishes. Expand
Cloning and characterization of major histocompatibility complex class II genes in the stone flounder Kareius bicoloratus (Pleuronectidae).
TLDR
Real-time quantitative PCR showed that in the stone flounder, both genes A and B are highly or moderately expressed in several tissues, including the intestine, spleen and gills, and less expressed or undetectable in the liver, kidney, brain, heart, and gonads. Expand
Identification of 48 full-length MHC-DAB functional alleles in miiuy croaker and evidence for positive selection.
TLDR
The polymorphism of Mimi-DAB alleles provides an important resource for analyzing the association between the polymorphisms of MHC gene and disease susceptibility/resistance, and for researching the molecular selective breeding of miiuy croaker with enhanced disease resistance. Expand
Molecular characterization of MHC class IIB genes of sympatric Neotropical cichlids
TLDR
Overall, the Midas cichlid has one of the most diverse repertoires of MHC class IIB genes known, which could serve as a powerful tool to elucidate the process of divergent radiations, colonization and speciation in sympatry. Expand
Molecular cloning, genomic structure, polymorphism and expression analysis of major histocompatibility complex class IIA gene of swamp eel Monopterus albus
TLDR
Real-time quantitative PCR demonstrated that swamp eel MHC IIA transcripts were ubiquitously expressed in ten tissues, but the expression level was distinctly different, and significant changes were observed in liver, spleen, kidney and intestine after challenged with pathogenic bacteria Aeromonas hydrophilia. Detection of MHC class II transcripts in lymphoid tissues of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.).
TLDR
The studies carried out with leucocyte isolated from the lymphoid tissues point to a direct correlation between the levels of expression and the amounts of surface immunoglobulin positive (sIg+) cells present in the different cell fractions, but thymus leucocytes did not follow this correlation since the highest level of class II expression was found in a thymocyte fraction that contained very low numbers of Ig+ cells.
