Hypoxia may contribute to the pathogenesis of synovitis in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) is a technique that uses radiofrequency waves to generate a signal which allows a qualitative and quantitative assessment of the biochemical composition of tissue.
