Many studies have reported the presence of high amounts of neurotensin (NT) binding sites in the mesencephalon of adult rat, and their possible role in mediating the effects of the peptide on the activity of mesencephalic dopaminergic neurons. In the present study, we demonstrate the presence of NT sites in primary cultures of embryonic rat mesencephalic cells.
