The present study reports isolation and characterization of 12 polymorphic microsatellite markers for Amaranthus hypochondriacus. A total of 92 alleles were detected across the 20 accessions, with an average of 7.7 alleles per locus. The observed (H O ) and expected (H E ) heterozygosity values ranged from 0 to 0.95 and from 0.49 to 0.92, respectively.
