Transcription factors continue to be of major interest in the field of pituitary research. Interestingly, emphasis is not anymore just on the role of transcription factors in pituitary development, but also on their role in tumorigenesis. For example, we have selected a paper suggesting Pit-1 is involved in breast cancer and a paper on the gene NUMB, which is known to be involved in cancer development, and is now shown to play a role in pituitary homeostasis.
