The first characterization of a nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV Baculoviridae) isolated from the vapourer moth, Orgyia antiqua (Lepidoptera Lymatriidae), in the United Kingdom is presented. Transmission electron microscopy revealed that the virus nucleocapsid rods were singly enveloped in the polyhedron inclusion body (PIB) so that the virus is assigned to the SNPV subgenus of the Baculoviridae.
