Ulva rigida is a worldwide distributed green alga and is commenly used for human nutrition. Extracts of this seaweed were shown anti-hypercholestierinemic, antioxidant and antihyperglycemic activities. The antioxidant effect was often ascribed to the presence of a huge amount of polyphenols.
