  • WFIRST-CGI will obtain images and low-resolution spectra of a handful to a dozen extrasolar planets and protoplanetary disks. Its unprecedented contrast levels in the optical will provide astronomers' first direct look at mature, Jupiter-sized planets at moderate separations.
