We present experimental results on the characterization of control fidelity for a qutrit implemented in the lowest three levels of a capacitively shunted flux-biased superconducting circuit. Using randomized benchmarking, we measure an average fidelity over the elements of the qutrit Clifford group of 99.0 $\pm$ 0.2%. In addition, for a selected subset of the Clifford group, we characterize the fidelity using quantum process tomography, and by observing the periodic behaviour of repeated gate…

### Adaptive Compilation of Multi-Level Quantum Operations

• Computer Science

This work introduces the concept of an energy coupling graph for singlequdit systems and provides an adaptive algorithm that leverages this representation for compiling arbitrary unitaries and leads to significant improvements over the state-of-the-art compilation scheme.

### Prospects for simulating a qudit-based model of (1+1)D scalar QED

We present a gauge invariant digitization of (1 + 1)d scalar quantum electrodynamics for an arbitrary spin truncation for qudit-based quantum computers. We provide a construction of the Trotter

### Degenerate local-dimension-invariant stabilizer codes and an alternative bound for the distance preservation condition

It is shown that degenerate stabilizer codes can have their distance also promised upon sufficiently large local-dimension, as well as a new bound on the local- dimension required to preserve the distance of local- Dimension-invariant codes, which could prove to be useful for error-corrected qudit quantum computers.

### Observing a changing Hilbert-space inner product

In quantum mechanics, physical states are represented by rays in Hilbert space H , which is a vector space imbued by an inner product 〈 | 〉, whose physical meaning arises as the overlap 〈φ|ψ〉 for |ψ〉

### Quantum Computing and Quantum Communications

The key notion of semi-separability, used to investigate n-particle entanglement by looking at two-subsystem entangler between its various subsystems, is presented and it is shown that such conditions are not sufficient for separability in the case of mixed states, suggesting entanglements of a strange type.
