Background: Dystonia and Huntington's disease (HD) are both hyperkinetic movement disorders but exhibit distinct clinical characteristics. Aberrant output from the globus pallidus internus (GPi) is involved in the pathophysiology of both HD and dystonia, and deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the GPi shows good clinical efficacy in both disorders.
