A cell line derived from channel catfish ovary tissue was compared with the brown bullhead (BB) cell line for their respective abilities to replicate and detect channel catfish virus (CCV). The channel catfish ovary cell line (CCO) produced cytopathic effects (CPE) more rapidly and detected CCV at higher dilutions than did the BB cell line.
