The IEEE 802.11 has been the dominant MAC protocols used in wireless ad hoc networks. It has been shown theoretically [1],[2] that significant performance improvements as compared to 802.11 can be achieved in random access wireless networks. In this paper we propose a new paradigm of medium access control, improving the performance of wireless ad hoc networks. Simulation results obtained show a significant improvement of throughput compared to that of an 802.11 system.
