To investigate the relationship between hypercapnia during sleep and its influence on the PaCO2 during the morning after sleep in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), the transcutaneous PCO2 (PtcCO2) was measured throughout the night, and the arterial blood gases (ABG) were also measured while awake before and after polysomnography in 30 OSAS patients with (n=13, hypercapnic group: HC) and without (n=17, normocapnic group: NC) hypercapnia.
