Growth parameters of six fast growing trees showed that the roots responded to Cd treatment more sensitively than the shoots. Cd-treatment suppressed rooting and root growth (length and biomass production) as well as its development in all tested species. Root systems of Salix cinerea, Salix alba, and Populus cv.
