We studied changes in the level of neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) in the blood serum of rats trained to perform the conditioned reaction of passive avoidance (CRPA). Down-regulation of the NCAM level was observed in animals, which lost the CRPA after electroshock (amnesia) and preserved this skill (unamnestic animals), and in animals with both passive recovery of this reaction and the absence of such a recovery; intergroup differences were of a quantitative nature.
