Changes in response waveform of retinal horizontal cells during dark and light adaptation were examined in the tiger salamander retina. In addition to sensitivity changes, the response waveform of HC was altered during visual adaptation: following bleaching or in the presence of background illumination, a transient depolarizing overshoot was observed at the cessation of the test flash.
