Changes in immunoglobulin A secretion induced by sympathetic and taste stimulation in the rat submandibular gland

Abstract

Secretion of saliva is dependent on stimuli from autonomic nerves that are the effector arms of reflexes activated predominantly by taste and chewing. Nerve mediated stimulus evokes saliva secretion of water and proteins by different mechanisms. Secretion of submandibular saliva is controlled by the autonomic nervous system.
