For cross section measurements, an accurate knowledge of the integrated luminosity is required. The FCC-ee physics programme at and around the Z pole sets the ambitious precision goal of $$10^{-4}$$ 10 - 4 on the absolute luminosity measurement and one order of magnitude better on the relative measurement between energy scan points. The luminosity is determined from the rate of Bhabha scattering, $$\mathrm {e^+e^- \rightarrow e^+e^-}$$ e + e - → e + e - , where the final state electrons and…

Online computing challenges: detector and read-out requirements

The operation at the Z-pole of the FCC-ee machine will deliver the highest possible instantaneous luminosities with the goal of collecting the largest Z boson datasets (Tera-Z), and enable a

The Future Circular Collider: a Summary for the US 2021 Snowmass Process

In this white paper for the 2021 Snowmass process, we give a description of the proposed Future Circular Collider (FCC) project and its physics program. The paper summarizes and updates the

FCC-ee overview: new opportunities create new challenges

With its high luminosity, its clean experimental conditions, and a range of energies that cover the four heaviest particles known today, FCC-ee offers a wealth of physics possibilities, with high

Precision luminosity for Z$^0$ lineshape measurements with a silicon-tungsten calorimeter

Abstract. The measurement of small–angle Bhabha scattering is used to determine the luminosity at the OPAL interaction point for the LEP I data recorded between 1993 and 1995. The measurement is

Precision luminosity for Z $^0$ lineshape measurements with a silicon-tungsten calorimeter

The measurement of small–angle Bhabha scattering is used to determine the luminosity at the OPAL interaction point for the LEP I data recorded between 1993 and 1995. The measurement is based on the

Luminosity Measurement in the L 3 Detector at LEP

One of the limiting factors in the determination of the electroweak parameters from cross section measurements of ee annihilation close to the Z pole is the precision of the luminosity measurement.
