clinical information, this disease remains undiagnosed in a large number of cases. First, the phenotype is highly variable: even highly prevalent neurological disturbances like migraine with aura, epilepsy or affective disorders may be the only presenting syndromes. In such cases a possible evolution towards a full-blown picture of stroke and dementia may be unpredictable. Cases may be encountered even at older age.
