Objectives Cephalometric analyses using lateral craniofacial radiographs are common diagnostic procedures for evaluating skeletal patterns. However, in patients with pronounced abnormalities like cleft lip and palate, standard cephalometric analyses and landmarks may not be suitable. This study aims to clarify whether the inclusion of landmarks less compromised by the cleft defect or located outside the cleft area results in a different cephalometric assessment of the viscerocranium. Which cephalometric analysis for maxillo-mandibular surgery in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome?
TLDR
Basing MMA on Delaire cephalometric analysis leads to an increased advancement of the maxillo-mandibular complex than Steiner tracing, and the consequences of this aspect on facial aesthetics should be considered during surgical planning and preoperative informed consent in OSAS patients candidate for MMA.
Facial Versus Skeletal Landmarks for Anterior-Posterior Diagnosis in Orthognathic Surgery and Orthodontics: Are They the Same?
Evaluation of the Bergen Cephalometric Norms: A Radiological and Statistical Appraisal
TLDR
The normal values of the angular radiographic cephalometric measurements in the Bergen analysis, the so called orthognathic combinations, were compared with the associations between these measurements obtained from two population samples and indicated differences between the Ber gen acceptable combinations and the population estimates.
Potential and Limitations of Cephalometric Analysis of Maxillofacial Bone Movement in the Case of LeFort III-Distraction
TLDR
It seems that neither procedure is suitable for determining this type of bone movement conclusively, and a combination of both procedures made more exact determination possible of the final position achieved.
The Cervical Vertebral Maturation (CVM) Method for the Assessment of Optimal Treatment Timing in Dentofacial Orthopedics
TLDR
A further modified version of the Cervical Vertebral Maturation (CVM) method is introduced, based on the analysis of the second through fourth cervical vertebrae in a single cephalogram, to identify optimal timing for the treatment of a series of dentoskeletal disharmonies in all three planes of space.
Prepubertal Midface Growth in Unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate following Alveolar Molding and Gingivoperiosteoplasty
TLDR
The results suggested that midface growth in sagittal or vertical planes (up to the age of 9 to 13 years) were not affected by presurgical alveolar molding and gingivoperiosteoplasty (Millard type).
