Increasing evidence shows that static magnetic fields (SMFs) can affect cell proliferation but mixed results have been reported. Here we systematically examined the effects of 1 T (Tesla) SMF, which is close to the SMF intensity that patients are exposed to MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scanners in hospitals, for its effect on 15 different cell lines, including 12 human and 3 rodent cell lines.
