Adhesive interactions are important modulators of cellular phenotype. Previously, we demonstrated that quiescent, suspension-arrested cells are not equivalent to density-arrested cells in their patterns of gene expression (Dhawan, J., and Farmer, S.R. (1990) J. Biol.
