In organic livestock production systems, farm-management factors are thought to play an important role in the on-farm prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii. Serological results and the results of an HACCP analysis were combined to determine important risk factors for the prevalence of this protozoan parasite. Mathematical analysis demonstrated that feeding goat whey to pigs and the presence of a high number of cats were positively correlated to T. gondii seroprevalence in pigs. Not covering roughage…

Toxoplasma gondii in wild boars and domestic pigs in Sweden
TLDR
The epidemiology of T. gondii in two possible key species for human toxoplasmosis in Sweden, namely domestic pigs and wild boars is described and aspects of the sampling and preparation of meat-juice samples are investigated.
Seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in Iberian pig sows
TLDR
The results from this study suggest that the prevalence of T. gondii antibodies among Iberian sows seems to be moderate-low, and is associated to an extensive management system and low-level facilities of the farm.

Toxoplasma gondii infection in animal-friendly pig production systems.
TLDR
Slaughterhouse monitoring of pigs from animal-friendly production systems combined with on-farm prevention strategies should be applied to ensure safety for consumers of the meat products obtained from these animals.
Prevalence of antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii in cattle and swine in The Netherlands: towards an integrated control of livestock production.
TLDR
The results show very low seroprevalences of Toxoplasma gondii in finishing pigs and fattening calves, indicating, however, that the production of toxoplasma-free meat may be well within reach in modern husbandry.
Animal-friendly production systems may cause re-emergence of Toxoplasma gondii
Risk factors for transmission of Toxoplasma gondii on swine farms in Illinois.
TLDR
Two epidemiologic studies of risk factors for transmission of Toxoplasma gondii to swine were conducted for farms in Illinois and indicated that higher sow seroprevalence was associated with cat access to sows and presence of rodents on the farm.
Toxoplasmosis infection associated with raw goat's milk.
TLDR
The data suggest that drinking raw milk from infected goats might be another possible vehicle for the transmission of toxoplasmosis.
A field trial of the effectiveness of a feline Toxoplasma gondii vaccine in reducing T. gondii exposure for swine.
TLDR
The results of this study suggest that the reduced exposure of pigs to T. Gondii was due to the administration of the T. gondii vaccine to cats, and there was a positive correlation between the change in prevalence in juvenile cats and the changeIn prevalence in finishing pigs.
Toxoplasma gondii: from animals to humans.
Presence of Salmonella and Campylobacter spp. in Wild Small Mammals on Organic Farms
TLDR
No shared Campylobacter genotypes were found between rodent and pig manure isolates, and effective on-farm rodent management is recommended.
