Two species of the new genus Catellatospora, belonging to the “actinoplanates” group, are described under the names Catellatospora citrea sp. nov. and Catellatospora ferruginea sp. nov. The organisms of this genus are aerobic and produce nonfragmenting vegetative hyphae and no true aerial mycelium. Short chains of nonmotile spores emerge singly or in tufts from the vegetative hyphae on the surface of agar media. The organisms have meso-diaminopimelic and 3-hydroxydiaminopimelic acids and…

Figures and Tables from this paper

A new genus of the order Actinomycetales, Virgosporangium gen. nov., with descriptions of Virgosporangium ochraceum sp. nov. and Virgosporangium aurantiacum sp. nov.

Four motile spored strains were isolated from soil samples collected in Japan and analysis of 165 rDNA sequences suggested that these organisms fall into a distinct clade within the family Micromonosporaceae, for which a new genus, Virgosporangium gen. nov, is proposed.

Actinocorallia gen. nov., a New Genus of the Order Actinomycetales

The genus Actinocorallia is characterized by well-developed, branched, nonfragmented substrate mycelia, characterized by long chains of nonmotile spores borne on the tips of unique coralloid sporophores.

Three novel species of the genus Catellatospora, Catellatospora chokoriensis sp. nov., Catellatospora coxensis sp. nov. and Catellatospora bangladeshensis sp. nov., and transfer of Catellatospora citrea subsp. methionotrophica Asano and Kawamoto 1988 to Catellatospora methionotrophica sp. nov., comb

Three Gram-positive, aerobic, non-motile, mesophilic strains isolated from sandy soil from Chokoria, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh indicated that the isolates formed a distinct clade within the evolutionary radiation of the family Micromonosporaceae and clustered with members of the genus Catellatospora.

Actinorhabdospora filicis gen. nov., sp. nov., a new member of the family Micromonosporaceae.

Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that actinomycete strains K12-0408T and K 12-0792 were positioned within the family Micromonosporaceae, a novel genus for which the name Actinorhabdospora gen. nov. is proposed.

Krasilnikovia gen. nov., a new member of the family Micromonosporaceae and description of Krasilnikovia cinnamonea sp. nov.

A novel actinomycete strain was isolated from sandy soil collected in Bangladesh and on the basis of phylogenetic analysis and the characteristic patterns of signature nucleotides as well as the morphological and chemotaxonomic data, this strain is proposed to be Krasilnikovia cinnamonea sp.

The Genus Actinoplanes and Related Genera

The members of the actinoplanetes can now be harbored taxonomically in the newly defined family Micromonosporaceae, and those of the maduromycetes belong in the family Streptosporangiaceae.

Catellatospora koreensis sp. nov., a novel actinomycete isolated from a gold-mine cave.

The combination of physiological, chemotaxonomic and DNA-DNA hybridization data supported that this organism is a novel species of the genus Catellatospora, for which the name Catellatopora koreensis sp.

Luedemannella gen. nov., a new member of the family Micromonosporaceae and description of Luedemannella helvata sp. nov. and Luedemannella flava sp. nov.

DNA-DNA hybridization experiment and phenotypic characterization indicated that the new genus was constituted of 2 species, as Luedemannella helvata sp.

Catellatospora matsumotoense sp. nov. and C. tsunoense sp. nov., Actinomycetes Found in Woodland Soils

Two new species in the genus Catellatospora are proposed. These organisms differ in carbon utilization profiles, vitamin requirements for growth, and levels of deoxyribonucleic acid relatedness to

Asanoa endophytica sp. nov., an endophytic actinomycete isolated from the rhizome of Boesenbergia rotunda.

Some physiological and biochemical properties indicated that strain BR3-1T could be readily distinguished from all type strains in the genus Asanoa, and should be classified as a representative of a novel species, for which the name AsanoA endophytica sp.

Glycomyces, a New Genus of the Actinomycetales

Two species of the new genus Glycomyces are described, which are aerobic, produce nonfragmenting vegetative hyphae, and form chains of conidia on aerial sporophores.

Kitasatosporia, a new genus of the order Actinomycetales.

The morphological, cultural, physiological and biochemical characteristics of a new actinomycete strain producing a new antibiotic, setamycin are described and the name Kitasatosporia is proposed, for which the type species is K. setalba.

Cell wall composition of Micromonospora olivoasterospora, Micromonospora sagamiensis, and related organisms

The primary structure of the peptidoglycan of Micromonospora is discussed and 45 strains of 12 genera examined, Actinoplanes, Ampullariella, Amorphosporangium, and Dactylospora species had a significant amount of glycolate in the whole cells.

Saccharothrix: a New Genus of the Actinomycetales Related to Nocardiopsis

A species of the new genus Saccharothrix is described, characterized by fragmentation of both the vegetative and aerial mycelia into ovoid elements and the following novel cell chemistry: type III cell wall; galactose and rhamnose present as characteristic whole-cell sugars; absence of nocardomycolic acids; and type PII phospholipid pattern.

Chemotaxonomy of aerobic Actinomycetes: Phospholipid composition

The Actinomycetes. Vol. II. Classification, Identification and Descriptions of Genera and Species.

The price is high but the need for an authoritative taxonomic treatise on this very difficult group of organisms is so great that it may be regarded as money well spent.

A New Genus of the Actinomycetales

A new genus of aerobic mesophilic species of a new genus belonging to the family Actinoplanaceae are described under the name Microellobosporia, characterized by the production of small club-shaped sporangia on the aerial mycelium.

Nocardia coeliaca, Nocardia autotrophica, and the Nocardin Strain

The characteristics of 27 mislabeled strains are presented and their close relationship to the type strain of N. autotrophica (Takamiya and Tubaki) Hirsch is demonstrated.

Numerical taxonomy of Actinomadura and related actinomycetes.

One hundred and fifty-six Actinomadura strains, marker strains of related taxa, and related isolates from bagasse and fodder were the subject of numerical phenetic analyses using 90 unit characters and the effect of the different coefficients on the aggregation of clusters is discussed.
