We show that the hypothesis of Abelian dominance in the maximal Abelian gauge, which is known to work for Wilson loops in the fundamental representation, fails for Wilson loops in higher group representations. Monte Carlo simulations are performed on lattice SU(2) gauge theory, in {ital D}=3 dimensions, in the maximal Abelian gauge, in the confined phase. It is well known that Creutz ratios extracted from loops in various group representations are proportional to the quadratic Casimir invariant…

Casimir scaling and renormalization of Polyakov loops in large-N gauge theories

A bstractWe study Casimir scaling and renormalization properties of Polyakov loops in different irreducible representations in SU(N ) gauge theories; in particular, we investigate the approach to the

How to extract the dominant part of the Wilson loop average in higher representations

In previous works, we have proposed a new formulation of Yang-Mills theory on the lattice so that the so-called restricted field obtained from the gauge-covariant decomposition plays the dominant

Analytic derivation of gluons and monopoles from SU ( 2 ) lattice Yang-Mills

In this series of three papers, we generalize the derivation of photons and monopoles by Polyakov, and Banks, Myerson and Kogut, to obtain gluon-monopole representations of SU(2) lattice gauge

Casimir scaling in SU(2) lattice gauge theory

By employing the multilevel algorithm in numerical Monte Carlo simulations, we evaluate the static potential in four dimensional SU(2) lattice gauge theory with no dynamical fermions, for static

Dual superconductor scenario of confinement: A systematic study of Gribov copy effects.

An approximate factorization of the Abelian potential into monopole and photon contributions has been confirmed, the former giving rise to the Abelia string tension.

Confining strings in representations with common n-ality

We study the spectrum of confining strings in SU(3) pure gauge theory, by means of lattice Monte Carlo simulations, using torelon operators in different representations of the gauge group. Our

Analytic derivation of dual gluons and monopoles from SU(2) lattice Yang-Mills theory. II. Spin foam representation

In this series of three papers, we generalize the derivation of dual photons and monopoles by Polyakov, and Banks, Myerson and Kogut, to obtain approximative models of SU(2) lattice gauge theory. Our
