Abstract

A 21-year-old woman presented with a 2-year history of mild pain in the left knee which did not restrict normal activity. No history of t rauma was given. On physical examination of the knee, ligaments, peripheral pulses, and sensation were normal. Initial roentgenograms revealed a subtle contour irregularity of the anterior cortical margin of the distal end of the left femur (Fig. 1), considered by the radiologist to be a variant
