Sir: It has been proposed that severely hypoxemic patients be ventilated in the prone position, in an attempt to improve gas exchange [1]. Testing this position in patients with the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is recommended [21. However, no guidelines are available for cases of life-threatening events occurring with the patient in the prone position especially cardiac arrest.
