The present study was designed to investigate the effects of chronic administration of the alcoholic extract of Terminalia arjuna (TAAE) bark on isoproterenol induced myocardial injury. The TAAE was administered orally to Wistar albino rats (150-200 g) in three different doses, by gastric gavage [3.4 mg/kg: (T1), 6.75 mg/kg: (T2) and 9.75 mg/kg: (T3)] 6 days/week for 4 weeks. At the end of this period, all the animals, except the normal untreated rats that served as the control group, were… Expand
Cardioprotective role of methanolic extract of bark of Terminalia arjuna against in-vitro model of myocardial ischemic-reperfusion injury
TLDR
In the methanolic extract of the bark powder of Terminalia arjuna treatment groups, both the doses had better recovery of myocardial function, with significant reduction in TBARS, and rise in SOD, GSH, catalase were observed. Expand
Alcoholic Extract of Terminalia Arjuna Protects Rabbit Heart against Ischemic-Reperfusion Injury: Role of Antioxidant Enzymes and Heat Shock Protein
The present study was designed to investigate the cardio protective role of chronic oral administration of alcoholic extract of Terminalia arjuna in in-vivo ischemic reperfusion injury and theExpand
Cardioprotective effect of grape seed proanthocyanidins on isoproterenol-induced myocardial injury in rats.
TLDR
This study demonstrates that GSP has a significant effect in the protection of heart against MI induced by ISO and believes that pretreatment with GSP may contribute to developing novel strategies in the prevention and treatment of cardiotoxic effects of elevated levels of catecholamine. Expand
Efficacy of grape seed proanthocyanidins on serum and heart tissue lipids in rats subjected to isoproterenol-induced myocardial injury.
TLDR
It is suggested that prior administration of GSPs significantly maintained the cholesterol, phospholipids, triglycerides, and free fatty acids levels in serum and heart tissue of the ISO-induced myocardial injury in rats. Expand
Protective effects of Terminalia arjuna against Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity.
TLDR
It is suggested that butanolic fraction of Terminalia arjuna bark has protective effects against Dox-induced cardiotoxicity and may have potential as a cardioprotective agent. Expand
Protective effect of propyl gallate against myocardial oxidative stress‐induced injury in rat
TLDR
It is stated that chronic administration of 500 mg kg−1 of propyl gallate offers significant protection against myocardial oxidative stress‐induced injury. Expand
Antioxidant activity of Terminalia arjuna bark extract on N-nitrosodiethylamine induced hepatocellular carcinoma in rats
TLDR
Results show an antioxidant activity of T. arjuna bark against DEN-induced liver cancer and this protective effect of EETA was associated with inhibition of LPO induced by DEN and to maintain the antioxidant enzyme levels. Expand
Efficacy of Grape Seed Proanthocyanidins on Cardioprotection During Isoproterenol-induced Myocardial Injury in Rats
TLDR
Pretreatment with GSP positively altered the levels of all the parameters studied and restored normal mitochondrial function when compared with ISO-induced rats, confirming the efficacy of GSP in alleviatingISO-induced myocardial injury. Expand
Cardioprotective effect of Erythrina stricta leaves on isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction in rat
The cardioprotective activity of Erythrina stricta leaves against isoproterenol- induced myocardial infarction was studied. Wistar albino rats were pretreated with leaf extract (200 mg/kg) daily forExpand
Aqueous extract of Terminalia arjuna prevents carbon tetrachloride induced hepatic and renal disorders
TLDR
It is demonstrated that the aqueous extract of the bark of TA could protect the liver and kidney tissues against CCl4-induced oxidative stress probably by increasing antioxidative defense activities. Expand

TLDR
It is suggested that crude bark of TA augments endogenous antioxidant compounds of rat heart and also prevents oxidative stress associated with IRI of the heart. Expand
