Abstract Carboxymethyl tamarind gum initiated and catalyzed sol–gel polymerization of tetramethoxysilane produced polysaccharide nanohybrids which were efficient in immobilizing α-amylase for starch hydrolysis. The nanohybrids have been characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM, TGA and BET analyses.
