C4 grasses are grouped into three biochemical subtypes,NAD malic enzyme (NAD–ME), NADP malic enzyme (NADP–ME)and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PCK), possessingcharacteristic leaf anatomy, biochemistry and physiology.
