Seroepidemiology of arbovirus in communities living under the influence of the lake of a hydroelectric dam in Brazil

Em geral, os dados sugerem that as acoes antropicas no ambiente do lago tornaram-se fatores determinantes para a prevalencia of anticorpos arbovirais.

Genetic and Phylogenetic Characterization of Tataguine and Witwatersrand Viruses and Other Orthobunyaviruses of the Anopheles A, Capim, Guamá, Koongol, Mapputta, Tete, and Turlock Serogroups

The results emphasize the high genetic diversity of orthobunyaviruses and reveal that the presence of the small nonstructural protein (NSs)-encoding open reading frame is not as common in orthobUNyavirus genomes as previously thought.

Resurrection of Anopheles goeldii from synonymy with Anopheles nuneztovari (Diptera, Culicidae) and a new record for Anopheles dunhami in the Brazilian Amazon.

Results of the Bayesian phylogenetic analyses performed using either COI or combined ITS2, COI and white gene sequences suggest that An.

Full-length sequencing and genetic characterization of Breu Branco virus (Reoviridae, Orbivirus) and two related strains isolated from Anopheles mosquitoes.

Phylogenetic analysis suggested that Breu Branco virus BE AR 492347 and its related strains constitute a novel species of the genus Orbivirus, the first Brazilian orbivirus and the fifth orbiv virus in the world to be sequenced fully.

Inadequate management of natural ecosystem in the Brazilian Amazon region results in the emergence and reemergence of arboviruses.

Deforestation, mining, dam and highway construction, human colonization, and urbanization were the main manmade environmental changes associated with the emergence and/or reemergence of relevant arboviruses, including some known pathogens for humans.

An Overview of Neglected Orthobunyaviruses in Brazil

Dozens of orthobunyaviruses have been isolated in Brazil, and at least thirteen have been associated with human disease. The Oropouche virus has received most attention for having caused explosive

Nineteen strains of VEE virus, identical by neutralization (N) tests, were shown by hemagglutination-inhibition tests with anti-E2 glycoprotein sera to represent a new subtype VI of the VEE complex, indicating that it is an enzootic virus, and it has not been associated with equine disease.

Two immunoassays, the immunoradiometric assay (IRMA) and the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), based on the use of species-specific antisporozoite monoclonal antibodies, were used to analyze a total of 9,040 field-collected Anopheles mosquitoes for plasmodial infection.
