We demonstrated that potassium depletion significantly increased gentamicin nephrotoxicity in Sprague-Dawley rats (100 mg X kg-1 X day-1). To determine whether this enhanced toxicity was mediated by renin secretion, we evaluated the effect of a converting enzyme inhibitor in this model.
