Marihuana is the botanical source of a variety of compounds termed cannabinoids. The cannabinoids represent a group of compounds that are scientifically important primarily because of the psychoactive properties of several members of this chemical family [22, 27]. The major psychoactive ingredient in marihuana is Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC).
