Liver abscesses are usually amebic or bacterial (pyogenic) in origin. Candida albicans is not listed as an etiologic agent in major reviews on the subject (1, 2). Nevertheless, liver involvement is a well-documented complication of disseminated candidiasis (DC), occurring mainly as microabscesses and granulomas in patients with leukemia and lymphoma (3).
