Multiple myeloma (MM) remains a largely incurable, genetically heterogeneous plasma-cell malignancy that contains - just like many other cancers - a small fraction of clonogenic stem cell-like cells that exhibit pronounced self-renewal and differentiation capacities, but also pronounced drug resistance.
