Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer death among females. However, mammographic diagnosis is sometimes non-conclusive with a Breast imaging Reporting and Data System (Bi-RaDS) result of 0. Cancer antigen 15-3 (CA15-3) is the most widely used serum tumor marker for breast cancer screening. Platelet distribution width (PDW) is an early indicator of platelet activation. Fibrinogen contributed to angiogenesis and distant metastasis. The aim of this…

Thrombotic biomarkers for risk prediction of malignant disease recurrence in patients with early stage breast cancer
TLDR
Pre-chemotherapy D-dimer, fibrinogen, and pro-thrombin fragment 1+2 levels were significantly associated with tumor size and lymph node metastasis, and this finding stimulates future investigations addressing the role of plasma prothrom bin fragment 1-2 in the management of breast cancer patients to provide the rationale for new therapeutic strategies.
Diagnostic Value of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor C (VEGF-C) and CA 15-3 in Breast Cancer
TLDR
VEGF-C in combination with CA 15-3 performed better as diagnostic parameter and has better accuracy as a tumour marker for breast cancer in comparison with each marker alone.
Circulating tumour cells and hypercoagulability: a lethal relationship in metastatic breast cancer
TLDR
The correlation between CTCs, hypercoagulability and reduced survival in MBC suggests the coagulation system supports tumour cell metastasis and is, therefore, a potential therapeutic target.

Mean platelet volume could be possible biomarker in early diagnosis and monitoring of gastric cancer
TLDR
Changes in MPV values may be used as an easily available biomarker for monitoring the healthy patients for GC risk and may prompt physicians to make an early diagnosis of GC.
Pre-treatment mean platelet volume associates with worse clinicopathologic features and prognosis of patients with invasive breast cancer
TLDR
High pre-treatment MPV level in IBC patients was a potential predictive factor and significant independent prognostic factor and correlations between pre- treatment MPV and clinical hematology parameters, pathology parameters and prognosis of patients with invasive breast cancer were investigated.
Elevated mean platelet volume is associated with presence of colon cancer.
TLDR
The findings show that patients with colon cancer have higher MPV levels compared with controls, and these are reduced after surgery, and MPV was found to be independently associated with the presence of colon cancer.
Platelet-derived microparticles and coagulation activation in breast cancer patients.
TLDR
It is speculated that platelet-derived microparticles (PMP) act in the microenvironment of tumor tissue and may thus not be an exclusive parameter reflecting in-vivo procoagulant activity.
Mean platelet volume could be a useful biomarker for monitoring epithelial ovarian cancer
TLDR
The data suggests that MPV could be a promising and easily available biomarker for monitoring EOC patients and investigate the difference in MPV values between E OC patients and healthy controls.

TLDR
The prognostic significance of stromal PDGF beta-receptor expression was particularly prominent in tumors from premenopausal women and should be considered in ongoing clinical development of PDGF receptor inhibitors.
