}INTRODUCTION
Delirium is a temporary mental disorder that frequently occurs among elderly hospitalized patients. Patients who undergo cardiac operations have an increased risk of postoperative delirium, which is associated with higher mortality and morbidity rates, a prolonged hospital stay, and reduced cognitive and functional recovery.
PATIENTS AND METHODS
In our prospective study, we included 370 consecutive adult patients who underwent on-pump coronary artery surgery between January 1…

- Medicine, Psychology
- 2016
Delirium is a well-known complication in post Op CABG patients leading to longer hospital stay and independent predictors of delirium are Male gender, Diabetes mellitus, Previous history of Stroke, Smoking, low Heamoglobin level, Cross clamp time, number of distal anastomosis, creatinine level and intubation time.

Patients undergoing TA-TAvi had a markedly increased incidence of postoperative delirium compared with patients undergoing TF-TAVI, and differences in anesthetic management were also observed between the TF vs TA groups.
Statin and Its Association With Delirium in the Medical ICU*
- Medicine, PsychologyCritical care medicine
- 2017
The use of statins was independently associated with a reduction in the risk of delirium in hospitalized patients, when considering types of statin used, this reduction was significant in patients using atorvastatin, pravastsatin, and simvastsatin.
Evaluating Pre-existing Cognitive Impairment and Anticholinergic Burden as Predictors of Post-operative Delirium following TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation)
- Psychology, Biology
- 2017
Cognitive deficits and anticholinergic burden may exert their deleterious effects on POD through a common pathway and pre-screening of risk can potentially reduce risk for POD.
Spinal anesthesia reduces postoperative delirium in opium dependent patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting.
- MedicineActa anaesthesiologica Belgica

Intrathecal morphine and bupivacaine reduced the risk of POD after CABG in a population of opium dependent patients and was defined as the main outcome of interest.
