Metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) 1-8 are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that modulate excitatory neurotransmission, neurotransmitter release, and synaptic plasticity. PKC regulates many aspects of mGluR function, including protein-protein interactions, Ca(2+) signaling, and receptor desensitization.
