Cyanide (CN) is a toxic species that is found predominantly in industrial effluents generated by metallurgical operations. Cyanide's strong affinity for metals makes it favorable as an agent for metal finishing and treatment and as a lixivant for metal leaching, particularly gold. These technologies are environmentally sound but require safeguards to prevent accidental spills from contaminating soils as well as surface and ground waters. Various methods of cyanide remediation by separation and…

Bioremediation of soil and water polluted by cyanide: A review
Cyanide is a chemical that is widely distributed in the environment, mainly as a result of anthropogenic activities. Only small quantities are naturally produced. Most industrial activities use this
Cyanide in industrial wastewaters and its removal: a review on biotreatment.
TLDR
The mechanism and advances in the use of biological treatment for the removal of cyanide compounds and its advantages over other treatment processes are described, which also includes various microbial pathways for their removal.
Biological Treatment of Cyanide Containing Wastewater
Cyanide compounds are released in to the water stream from a number of industrial effluent and several routes including biodegradation for their removal from the waste water are under investigation.
Detoxification of Cyanide Wastewater by Cyanotrophic Organisms: the case of Phanerochaete chrysosporium
Abstract Cyanide, a carbon-nitrogen radical, is a major building block in many industries including pharmaceuticals, petrochemical and gold processing. In the gold extraction industry, cyanide has
State of the art of passive treatment technologies for the abatement of cyanides from the mining industry : Experiences in Asturias ( Spain )
Gold extraction operations generate a variety of waste products, which must be responsibly disposed of, in compliance with environmental regulations. During the last decades, increased emphasis has
Passive treatment for the removal of residual cyanide in drainage from closed gold mine tailing ponds
In the gold mining industry, tailings from the cyanide leaching process contain variable quantities of a number of cyanide compounds; as tailings are transferred to a pond for sedimentation and
